Business Meeting

  1. The minutes from the May 20, 2009 meeting were approved.
  2. David Walter reported treasury balances as follows: Checking: $525.41 and Savings: $7,866/77. David reported that the refreshments for Jim Diers' presentation cost $76.02, which will be reimbursed from the City of Bloomington grant funds. Green Acres Neighborhood Association requested $52.26 from their account for supplies related to the Blooming Neighborhood event. Molly O'Donnell made a motion to approve the expenditure of funds. It was seconded by Richard Carr and approved by the Board.
  3. The CONA survey for Bloomington Hospital is available for people to fill out at www.conaonline.org and the results will be tabulated in September after Labor Day. David Walter logged onto the web site so that the Board Members could see how the survey works.
  4. The Board discussed Jim Dyers presentation (full of enthusiasm and well attended)and the Blooming Neighborhood celebration - great weather, good crowd and lots of opportunities to make contact with neighbors. Vickie Provine sent out thank you notes to each neighborhood that participated.
  5. The Board discussed neighborhood networking and the fact that CONA can be whatever the Board members want it to be. CONA can provide non- profit and tax-exempt status to neighborhood associations and is eligible for grant funds. The organization can be used to develop common goals and identify needs of neighborhoods. Meetings are available for exchange of ideas and information about government programs and policies. The Executive Board functions in place of elected officers by approving items for the Board meeting and setting up the agenda.
  6. Under Neighborhood News, the Board discussed the City's offer to provide grants of up to $200 for reimbursement of a neighborhood party. Molly O'Donnell made a motion that CONA should have a ice cream social in September for place of regular meeting. The motion was seconded by Jane Spearman and passed by voice vote. The Board also discussed the 2009 Regional Neighborhood Network Conference to be held in Decatur, Illinois and asked the Executive Committee to consider sending delegates and how to pay for their registration, room and transportation.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM.
